Question: I'm from Iowa and some people say I've got a specifically Iowan accent. I think everyone else has an accent!
Answer: Everybody in America talks differently. If you go to another country, they say "they have an American accent." So yes...they have one, and you probably do, too. But an accent, even if they poke fun at you for it, they probably do it because they think your accent is cute or charming, so who cares? Thicken your speech and say "I do not have an accent!" Be proud of who you are. Whenever you go somewhere else, how you speak differently from them will be a novelty.
